Our head miller, Diego, has these food memories making tortillas with his grandmother. A few years ago, she gave Diego her tortilla press, inviting him to carry on with his own family. The simple charm and natural patina of Diego's heirloom treasure inspired us to replicate this beautiful piece for our own Hayden community. A local master woodworker, Raul, fashioned every Heirloom Tortilla Press after the original, marking each with a unique serial number, and engraving his name under the Hayden Flour Mills logo placed discretely beneath the press. Our hope is that this Heirloom Tortilla Press serves as a memory maker for you, and many generations to come.

Your press has been treated with a food-safe mineral oil finish.
To clean: After each use, remove any bits of dough, wipe press with a damp cloth, then dry with a towel. Do not immerse press in water or apply soap, which can damage the finish.
Over time, oils from the tortilla dough and your hands will continue to build up a lovely patina finish adding a beautiful aged quality to your tortilla press.
Any slight roughness that you feel when the press is new is due to its traditional hand-made nature and will smooth out with time and use.
