Authentic Mexican Carne Asada

Diego, our Head Miller, was born and raised in Mexico. As a trained chef, he really knows what he’s talking about when it comes to authentic Mexican cuisine. According to Diego, “the only way to make tacos is with carne asada!” We hope you enjoy this simple, but mouth watering marinade recipe for “real tacos”. Serve with Homemade Masa x Wheat Tortillas and Authentic Mexican Roasted Salsa.

What You'll Need

2 lbs of beef (Diego recommends skirt steak or sirloin flap. If you find fortunate enough to have a local Mexican market, ask for “pulpa paleta or diezmillo”)

Juice from 2 oranges

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

Taco Toppings

Cilantro

Diced onion

Picked Red Onion

Lime wedges

Sliced avocado

Authentic Mexican Roasted Salsa

Directions

  1. Stir together orange juice, salt, and ground pepper in a large bowl.

  2. Add beef and marinate at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes.

  3. After the beef is done marinating, preheat grill to medium high heat.

  4. Using paper towels, pat the beef dry.

  5. Add to grill and cook to desired doneness.

  6. Let rest 5 minutes.

  7. Slice and serve with Homemade Masa x Wheat Tortillas and Authentic Mexican Roasted Salsa.

Serves 4-6.

NOTE: If you decide to treat your guests to homade tortillas using our Tortilla Flour, first make your tortilla dough. While the dough rests (30 minutes), make the marinade. While the beef marinates, cook up your tortillas, keeping them warm under a kitchen towel until it’s time to serve.
